About us
The Florida Center for Early Childhood is a 501c-3 nonprofit organization with programs across Southwest Florida. Its mission is "to help build and foster strong families and expand the potential of young children." For more than 40 years, the agency has been a leading provider of therapeutic services, early education, and healthy development for children in southwest Florida. Services focus on infants and children through eight years old who are at risk for academic, social, or economic failure. Parents and family members receive the education and support necessary to nurture their child's growth, while advancing their own opportunities for further education and economic self-sufficiency. Over 2,500 children benefit from the programs annually. As needs continue to grow in our community, The Florida Center is committed to helping local children and families overcome their challenges and reach their full potential.

How Does Grief Manifest in Children? This free, virtual training is for Florida parents, caregivers, and professionals who are working with a child experiencing grief. Register now for the Wed, May 15 session from 9:30 am-12 pm. https://bit.ly/4bf433H When a child experiences grief, their expressions of it may be misunderstood as misbehavior, leading to labeling the behavior as “unacceptable” within their environment. Throughout a child’s development, grief presents itself in various ways, which often don’t coincide with how adult caregivers express their grief. Join us as we explore the diverse ways children demonstrate their grief and discuss how caregivers can respond in supportive ways. This training is through a collaboration with Empath Tidewell Grief Center, Blue Butterfly and for Florida residents only. 2.0 Continuing Education hours available through Florida CEBrokers for Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and Certified Master Social Worker.
