Town Square is a 1950’s-themed Senior Day Care Center in the Palmer Ranch area of Sarasota. Town Square provides engaging programming and socialization, in a safe and caring environment, while providing relief to caregivers and family members. Most members have some form of cognitive impairment, ranging from mild cognitive impairment with aging, Alzheimer’s/dementia, or Parkinson’s. The caring staff is experienced, supportive, and dementia trained. Town Square is a secure center with a full-time nurse onsite. The center was built to resemble a 1950’s main street with a diner, theater, library, city hall, art studio, health club, and game room, all built around a park with a 1957 Thunderbird convertible. Members are grouped cognitively each day and our staff leads those groups through engaging programming, that changes daily, moving the groups from room to room each hour. Programming includes education, games, exercise, music, art, and more, and includes many visiting musical groups and other performers. Hours are Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30, and the cost is $140/day (approximately $17/hour) which includes all meals and programming. There is a VA contract in place that allows many veterans to attend for free. Many of our members are also using their long-term care policy. The center also provides PT/OT on-site as well as a podiatrist, hair stylist, speech therapist, and more.
