About us
We are an independent environmental consulting business passionate about using ecological principles and native species to restore and protect Florida's ecosystems. Florida has tens of thousands of man-made ponds, lakes, and stormwater retention systems that are supposed to filter nutrients and pollutants flowing downstream. However, when we make these ponds we often don't plant them or stock the algae eaters and filter feeders necessary to form a healthy ecosystem. On land, traditional practices of management are causing widespread native habitat loss and disrupting the health and resiliency of our state's ecosystems. The consequences of this status quo include everything from exacerbated harmful algae blooms to millions of dollars spent on invasive species management. Stocking Savvy is proud to be the first and only company in the state stocking a variety of native fish, invertebrates, and plants to maintain your pond in an environmentally and financially responsible way. We've restored over one million native plants and wildlife back into Florida's ecosystems and saved our clients hundreds of thousands on terrestrial and aquatic management. Our focuses include: -Habitat restoration for native species in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems -Invasive species management -Shoreline erosion control -Aesthetic living shorelines and butterfly gardens -Environmental and political consulting -Home and business landscaping -Mitigation areas and preserve monitoring -Drone and site mapping -Scientific and research-based assistance If you're interested in learning more about what we do, visit our website or shoot us an email to connect.

We wrapped up 2023 by showcasing at the Green Living Expo + Ecosummit, and WHEW 😤 -- what an unforgettable week! We met hundreds of new friends and shared habitat restoration tips + "guerilla gardening" supplies with neighbors from across all of Manasota. Events like these are a truly special opportunity to meet your fellow Sarasotans and local organizations that are working to make our region a better place. We're grateful to be a part of such a strong, environmentally-minded community. Can't wait to see what's in store for 2024 ✊ #sarasotasummit #scienceandenvironment #sarasotaflorida #supportlocalbusiness

Honestly, sometimes even we are blown away with the results. This restoration project is in a brand-new development whose land managers wanted to restore native plants and wildlife to the area— essentially, constructing an ecosystem from next to nothing. We planted hundreds of thousands of native aquatic plants, algae-eating fish, and invertebrates. An exciting part about working in new developments is that we aren’t working against the clock — in many of the landscapes we restore, a great deal of initial effort and cost is put into clearing the area of invasive species and similar issues that occur over long periods of time when a habitat is improperly constructed and managed. By immediately planting a diverse, dense living shoreline, we prevent the encroachment and establishment of those harder-to-deal-with invasives, while preventing erosion, increasing food and shelter for local wildlife and pollinators, and more! Getting a chance to do this kind of large-scale restoration work is a dream come true for this team. Hey y’all! It’s about time we re-introduce ourselves (& what a better way to do so than with a family photo?) 🍃 The three of us — Sean, Kendall, and Evan — make up the core team of Stocking Savvy (not pictured is our INCREDIBLE installation team, who we’ll be highlighting in future posts). We’re an independent environmental consulting business passionate about using ecological principles and native species to protect and restore Florida’s ecosystems. Traditional terrestrial and aquatic management methods are costly, labor-intensive, and more often than not contribute to the very issues (algae growth, invasive species presence, erosion, just to name a few) their technologies attempt to solve. For example, utilizing chemical applications to treat algae blooms is an expensive treatment that results in the growth of algae resistant to the chemicals used — meaning the next treatment will be ineffective if not increased. We employ restoration methods that get to the root of the imbalances that cause problems in the first place. We assess ecosystems across Florida and restore the native plant and wildlife communities that bring resilience and health back to the natural system. We’ve restored more than one million plants and animals back into Florida’s ecosystems, and we’re just getting started 🫡 Check out our website & socials for more information on what we do and how we do it. #nativeplants #habitat #restoration #smallbusiness #localbusiness #sarasota #sarasotaflorida #florida #floridanativeplantsarecool #floridayards #landscape #aquatic #management #consulting #environment #nativegarden
